Executive Board

The Executive Board consists of four positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. This board presides over the entirety of the cabinet and oversees day-to-day operations of the organization. Our focus as a board is to ensure our cabinet can provide our members with the best experience possible.

President

Hello everyone!

My name is Marc Sanna (he/him), I am a 3rd year Aerospace Engineering major, hoping to declare a minor in Asian American Studies, a member of Dynasty Fam, and I am humbled to serve as your President for the '24-'25 academic school year.

My journey in Akbayan begins in high school, when I learned about the organization after I had chosen to go to SJSU. I joined in Fall 2022, getting picked up in KAAMP Mahika by my Kuya Elijah. At the same time, I became a Masaya Intern, achieving Intern of the Year in what was one of the defining experiences of my college life. Internship opened me up to my culture, allowed me to learn more about myself, and allowed me to find a community. In Spring 2023, I participated in PCN 35: "Hiraya Manawari" as part of the BTS aspects of Tech, Props and Attires. Last year, I served as the Secretary of SOL 47, participated in my first Friendship Games, picked up my first and second born Adings Russell and Jacob, and served as Logistics Manager for PCN 36: "This is Why", which was also my first experience cultural dancing.

One thing about me is I am an absolute public transportation nerd. I have a dedicated IG account just for this interest, @caltain2sjsu, where I post pictures of trains and other transport! Treasurer

Hey y’all!

My name is Devin Elizarde (he/him), and I’m a 4th year Theatre Arts major with a concentration in Production Design & Technology. I’m a part of XY Fam, and honored to be serving as your Treasurer for the 2025-2026 academic year!

I joined AkbayanSJSU in Fall 2022 as a KAAMP Mahika ading, where I was picked up by my Kuya Justin. In spring of 2023, I became a Masaya Intern and a cast member for PCN 35: Hiraya Manawari, and the year culminated in me wanting to learn more about my culture and pushing myself beyond my comfort zone. Since then, I’ve served as an XY Fam Rep and picked up my firstborn and second-born: Ading Gabe and Ading Miguel. In addition, I served as a Hxstorian Apprentice for PCN 36: This Is Why and a Cultural Director for PCN 37: Para Sa’yo. AkbayanSJSU has always brought out the best in me, and I aim to do the same for others who’re returning or joining this organization!

Something you should know about me is that I enjoy quality time! It’s my primary love language, and I’m easily amused when interacting with others. I could spend hours upon hours exploring zoos, museums, and galleries, or simply walking and talking with someone with no clear destination. Whether spontaneous or planned, I’m always down to get to know someone better!

Vice President

Hey everyone!

My name is Jessica Zabat (she/her/hers), I am a 4th year Psychology major with a minor in Sociology, and I am so proud to be serving as your Vice President for this school year!

A bit about my hxtory in Akbayan ~ I first got picked up in Fall 2021 by my amazing Ate Xandria in Legendary Fam (#LoveLine ALWAYS). The following year in Fall 2022, I became a Masaya Intern and had the opportunity to learn more about myself, personally, culturally, and in leadership roles as well. At the same time in the fall, I participated in Friendship Games in the Roll Call aspect! Then, in Spring 2023, I picked up my firstborn, Ading Erika, and my second-born, Ading Audrey, in Fall 2023! Last year, I also served as ½ of the Public Relations Officers for SOL 47 and was on KOREagatan as a PR Manager. I kept coming back because of how much this community gave me!

Some little things about me… I am very much a creative, artsy type of person! Recently, I’ve loved cooking for my family and I’ve also always loved singing and dancing. Secretary

Hey everyone!! My name is Dale Socito. I go by he/him pronouns, and I’m a 4th-year Business Administrator with a concentration in Finance. I’m part of Venture Fam, and I’m excited to serve as your Secretary for this school year. 

I first joined Akbayan in Fall 2024 as a KAAMP Voyage ading and was picked up by my Kuya Leo. I also joined the Internship Program and was a part of it for the school year, and became a Kalayaan Intern. In the Spring, I joined PCN 37: Para Sa’yo, where I was part of the Modern and Cultural aspects. Initially, I joined to find my place at SJSU and to be part of a community. Through Akbayan, I was able to achieve exactly what I wanted: I found my place, made friends, and grew as a person. I had never been in a situation where I had to put myself out there all by myself, but taking that leap of faith is a choice I am very grateful I committed to. AkbayanSJSU has given me the platform I needed to be the best version of myself, and I want to provide that same experience for everyone new to the organization or returning to it.

Some fun facts about me are that I love going out with friends and just doing anything. I am also really big on basically anything fiction, whether it is video games, comics, movies, anime, etc. If you are passionate about something, I will mostly share a similar sentiment as well!
