Executive Board

The Executive Board consists of four positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. This board presides over the entirety of the cabinet and oversees day-to-day operations of the organization. Our focus as a board is to ensure our cabinet can provide our general members with the best experience possible.

President

Hello everyone!

My name is Marc Sanna (he/him), I am a 3rd year Aerospace Engineering major, hoping to declare a minor in Asian American Studies, a member of Dynasty Fam, and I am humbled to serve as your President for the '24-'25 academic school year.

My journey in Akbayan begins in high school, when I learned about the organization after I had chosen to go to SJSU. I joined in Fall 2022, getting picked up in KAAMP Mahika by my Kuya Elijah. At the same time, I became a Masaya Intern, achieving Intern of the Year in what was one of the defining experiences of my college life. Internship opened me up to my culture, allowed me to learn more about myself, and allowed me to find a community. In Spring 2023, I participated in PCN 35: "Hiraya Manawari" as part of the BTS aspects of Tech, Props and Attires. Last year, I served as the Secretary of SOL 47, participated in my first Friendship Games, picked up my first and second born Adings Russell and Jacob, and served as Logistics Manager for PCN 36: "This is Why", which was also my first experience cultural dancing.

One thing about me is I am an absolute public transportation nerd. I have a dedicated IG account just for this interest, @caltain2sjsu, where I post pictures of trains and other transport! I also enjoy playing video games and spending time with my brother! Feel free to reach out to me @marc_santa22 on IG for anything, from just saying hi to transit directions!

Treasurer

Hi!

My name is Christian Aqui (he/him) and I’m a 4th year Electrical Engineering major. I am a part of TRU Fam, and I am proud to to say that I am serving as your Treasurer for this academic year!

Regarding my involvement in Akbayan, I joined after transferring from community college last year in hopes of making some friends. I ended up joining the KAAMP program in Fall 23 and got picked up by my Kuya Jerry. I also became an Odyssey Intern where I immersed myself in learning and being a part of what the organization had to offer. I was also a part of the BTS and cultural dance aspects of PCN 36. The community I became a part of during my one year here has truly been life changing in what I’ve experienced and the new connections I’ve made.

A few things about me: I love to read books, webtoons, and manga; I try to go to the gym more than once a week; and I like rocks! Vice President

Hey everyone!

My name is Jessica Zabat (she/her/hers), I am a 4th year Psychology major with a minor in Sociology, and I am so proud to be serving as your Vice President for this school year!

A bit about my hxtory in Akbayan ~ I first got picked up in Fall 2021 by my amazing Ate Xandria in Legendary Fam (#LoveLine ALWAYS). The following year in Fall 2022, I became a Masaya Intern and had the opportunity to learn more about myself, personally, culturally, and in leadership roles as well. At the same time in the fall, I participated in Friendship Games in the Roll Call aspect! Then, in Spring 2023, I picked up my firstborn, Ading Erika, and my second-born, Ading Audrey, in Fall 2023! Last year, I also served as ½ of the Public Relations Officers for SOL 47 and was on KOREagatan as a PR Manager. I kept coming back because of how much this community gave me!

Some little things about me… I am very much a creative, artsy type of person! Recently, I’ve loved cooking for my family and I’ve also always loved singing and dancing. Secretary

Hello hello beautiful people!

My name Danielle Fortez (she/her), I am a 3rd year criminology major with a minor in Forensic Science. I’m also in ALOHA fam, and I am proud to announce that I will be serving as your Secretary for this academic year.

I had first joined Akbayan in Spring 2022. My first few steps in joining this community was joining KAAMP Mahika in Spring 2022 where I was picked up by my lovely Ate Kylene! Going in completely blind I didn’t really know what to expect. I only had intentions of making new connections and friends, which I did! I made so many beautiful friendships, a lot more than I had expected actually. Intrigued by what Akbayan had to offer, I joined Internship my second year. I was deeply interested in gaining more connections, build my leadership skills and learn more about who I am and about my culture. My time in Internship was definitely a journey and was what jump started my interest into being more involved within this organization, which then led to me joining PCN 36, running for Cabinet, and now I’m here! This community has welcomed me with such open arms and has opened my eyes to so many beautiful experiences and opportunities that I never knew I could discover. I encourage anyone if you’re just a little bit interested to join and take those first few steps, because you never know where those few steps could take you.

A little bit about me though! I’m very heavily family and relationship oriented. I care deeply and love the connections I make with other people and cherish every memory I make with others around me. I also love cats, I have a 2 year old Russian Blue named Tubby. She’s my absolute pride and joy. I want to get another cat so that Tubby can have a friend to hang out with. I also LOVE dancing, I’ve been dancing for over 7 years now. Fun fact, I started dancing by making kpop covers on instagram!
