Upcoming Event: MaBOOhay 2016!

Akbayan of San Jose State University Presents the 16th Annual Ma”BOO”hay Talent Showcase!

All proceeds will be donated to Project PEARLS.

Project PEARLS’ main mission is to help children get out of poverty and to enable them to achieve their dreams. To do this, they are given opportunities through scholarship grants and educational resources. Educating the children will allow them to have a better future, thus, breaking away from the vicious cycle of poverty.

Project PEARLS focuses on the following areas: education, nutrition, economic and community development. They strive to constantly grow their network of sponsors and partners; and to raise resources through grant applications and various fund-raising activities. This is to ensure that they are able to feed hundreds daily; to send to school as many children as possible; to improve the care and support for children and families with health issues; and to help the community have a sustainable livelihood program. About Ma”BOO”Hay Talent Showcase

After 16 years, the Ma”BOO”hay Talent Showcase has been a terrific outlet for up-and-coming artists to hone their talents in front of a large audience that usually consists of a sold-out audience of more than 500 people. Our past headliners include Drop N’ Harmony, A.J. Rafael, a collaborative performance featuring Gabe Bondoc, Leejay Abucayan, and Jeremy “Passion” Manongdo, Ramielle Malubay, Kierra Folsom, and Jeff Bernat. This year, my vision for Ma”BOO”hay is to cultivate and reach out to the younger generations.
