WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE (and part of Akbayan)! This week was filled with fun events including KAAMP revealing, RAAP (Raising Awareness Amongst Pilipinos) Conference, and Ma”Boo”Hay.
Hope you all had fun at KAAMP. The week started off with clues/gifts, exponential amounts of trolling by our Kuyates, and some great butt-signatures. Thursday, October 8, 2015, bonds were made, tears were shed, and lives were changed. Adings mingled and chilled at the SU patio, as they anticipated meeting their Kuyates for the first time or even the second or third time (trolling was real intense this time around). Kuyates met at the AS Lawn to welcome the new baby adings to their families. Necole Cayanan and her vvv awesome core led the adings to their Kuyates and life was good. && shoutout to our KAAMP Coordinator Necole Cayanan, her vvv awesome core, and the fam reps!
Lucky you, we’ve included the KAAMP Revealing video for you here, enjoy!

The week doesn’t stop there! Saturday morning, Selena Flores and Gerard Manay, our Community and Political Affairs chairs, hosted the annual RAAP conference. Attendees included high school students from Fremont High School,Fremont HS, Independence, Piedmont, Live Oak, Wilcox and more, and gen members too! There were a bunch of workshops, ice breakers, campus tours led by AK Oaties, pizza, real eyes, real lies, realizing, and even lyin’ lion lovers? Workshops included: Modern Dance, Cultural Dance, Spoken Word, a Career Panel, a College Panel, Anakbayan’s Save our Schools, ECCAC (Ethnic and Cultural Communities Advisory Committee), and eskirma. Attendees were put in families, they cheered, played games together, and it was cute. Also, shoutout to Kuya D (Daniel Lazo) and Kuya A (Alan Gouig) for leading icebreakers and making this event super fun!
And it doesn’t stop there either. Our cultural chair,Adrian Bautista, hosted the 15th annual Ma”BOO”hay! It was pretty lit…right Sizzy McFly? The night started with Ate-Ading duo, Necole Cayanan and Jose Reina, MC-ing and the Akbayan Cultural Dance Troupe (a little snippet of PCN, so stay tuned for that next semester). The show included Hush Crew, Tahitian Dance, Sizzle Mcfly, Pitch, Please!, APM, Midnighthimawar, Katrina Liawanga, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., Drea Delacruz, and our headliner, and the oh so sweet, Astralogik! We also had vendors: Empire in the Air, Pop the Trunk Apparel, and Bayani Art. Although the show was very entertaining, it was also an informative event. This years Ma”BOO”hay highlighted Pilipino’s embracing the struggle through three words Katapatan (Loyalty), Bayani (Warrior), and Lakas (Strength). If you went, we hope you had fun and learned something new! And just for you, we have the recap video here for your convenience :)
Have a good day y’all!
