Hey everyone and whoever is reading this, I’m Kevin Candido, one of your 2011-2012 Public Relations Officers. I was born in Santa Clara on December 15, 1991. I live in Mountain View for most of my life and went to Mountain View High School.
Since i was 7 or so I have taken a variety of styles of Martial Arts; Blue Belt in Karate, Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, and lastly I trained at an Intermediate level in both Kali Arnis (Filipino Martial Arts) and Jeet Kune Do (Bruce Lee Martial Arts).
Besides Martial Arts, one of my favorite things to do is DANCE!!! If you see me around campus with my earphones on and listening to music, I’m most likely going to be dancing too. The thing about me is that when I dance/freestyle, I’m in my own world, and I dance wherever I go, not caring who stares at me or anything, I love dancing and sharing my knowledge and always open to teaching anyone what I know, some of my inspirations and favorites in the dance community include Shaun Evaristo, Keone Madrid, Mariel Martin, Jun Quemado, Brian Puspos, Lando Wilkins, Ian Eastwood, Kyle Hanagami, Andrew Baterina, Jackie Lautchang, Movement Lifestyle, The Sh*t Kingz, Mos Wanted Crew, Soreal Cru, etc…JEFF MONJE!!! 
But the dancers that inspire me the most I would have to say are the three Akbayan dance directors I got to know while being in Akbayan and who I call my parents; Jadine Otero, Vince Dimalanta, and lastly Randy Van Le. They taught me so much about dancing, especially about one of the quotes I live by “Stay Humble, Stay Hungry.”
In Akbayan, I have been involved in Friendship Games 2010 Roll Call, PCN Modern 2011, and Legacy Interns.
When I first joined Akbayan, at first I was kind of scared, I was a freshman and I didn’t know anyone in the organization at all, but once I started getting more involved in Akbayan, especially when I joined Roll Call, I met so many people that I became friends with and truly care about so much. People that I call family. So if you happen to be like me when you first join Akbayan, just hit me up on facebook or give me an email at pr@akbayansjsu.org and I’ll make sure to meet up with you personally, talk with you about Akbayan or whatever, just get to know you and show you what Akbayan has to offer you. I’ll also introduce you to a lot of Akbayan members.
