Ello world!
For the plain jane basics, my name is Francesca but you can call me Cesca or Chi Chai. I’m a third year majoring in global studies and minoring in journalism. I’m from… uh? I moved HELLA times between Daly City and Pacifica but I went to high school in South San Francisco. Let’s just say I’m from the Peninsula. There you go. Shout-out to the fog!
My goal in life is to save the world (or at least make an effective impact towards creating a better one.) I’ve been having a save-the-world plan since I was about 14 or 15. I promised myself to become an international journalist that designs shirts along the way and uses some of the shirt proceeds for those who’ve inspired me. This plan began to unravel a bit my first year here in San Jose when I launched my clothing line Empire in the Air. An Empire is what I’m striving for– something empowering and grand– whereas in the air represents whomever was told their “head is in the clouds”. It is a representation of a defiance against doubt and a contraption to those who want to convert their dreams into reality.
My mom founded a non-profit organization called Project PEARLS which is an uplifting contraption itself– Project PEARLS dedicates itself in creating a stable life and bringing education for the children of Ulingan, a slum in the Philippines perched on top of a garbage heap and adjacent to a charcoal factory. 20% of my profit from Empire goes towards PEARLS. What would be a better place to tie in my save-the-world plan than our very own homeland? (Plus, more bonding with the main lady– hi mommy!)
To get into why I’m here, I’ll be honest with you. I fell in love with Pilipino Culture Night (PCN). I had the opportunity to help write and direct PCN my first year and I got to dance my second year. Now, for my third year, I’m blessed to be one of your coordinators. Forreal though ( excuse my Daly City talk), if PCN was a guy I’d hella date him. He can act, dance, sing– and if being a triple threat wasn’t enough, he’s cultured and inspires whomever sees him. Sounds like my type of fella’. So yes. I’m here because I fell in love and I hope to bring an experience which you yourself will love.
As for some random fun facts to end this whole shebang… I’m a retired professional ice-cream scooper, I have an obese malti-poo named Momo, and God is my main man and Homie Upstairs.
